David Thomson – Business Development Director
David’s early employment experience and background was in Banking prior to going into Mining and Resources Operational management in 1989. David worked for 16 years in operational and management roles in the mining & mineral processing industry across Australia. His knowledge and experience in the resources sector includes Operational Management, Corporate Change Management, Human Resource Management, Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Training system implementation and Business Improvement.
David is actively involved in the Mining industry locally and internationally through Smart Staff International and it is through his international contacts that Universal Site Monitoring has been collaborating with steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal and other international companies for the past six years.
Emil Tastula – Co-Founder / Managing Director
Emil has decades of experience in a range of industry related operational management and consulting capacities, managing site operations, employee training and safety in the minerals & resources and civil marine sector over 33 years, working in mining, resource processing, oil & gas and civil & marine construction.
Emil worked in control room operations management, site training and safety and other capacities in the mining industry in Papua New Guinea and across Australia. Her returned to Darwin to work in resource construction and marine industries for 10 years, prior to establishing his current company USM Holdings Ltd where he was actively involved on a part time basis since 2016 and full time from June 2019, expanding his business networks with major mining and oil and gas companies globally through International trade shows in USA, Europe, UK and the Middle East.
Don Nurthen - Non-Executive Director / Board Member
Don is a senior leadership and management professional with +25 years of experience in asset management, technical support, and business improvement in operating and capital projects environments in the minerals mining, processing, and refining sectors.
He has been an active member of several executive leadership teams, performing the role of director on four occasions (SMEs). He has also been an SME owner providing consulting services to government, corporate organizations, and not for profits.
His expertise is the strategic and tactical management of diverse businesses including technical services and asset portfolios, combined with the continuous improvement of systems and processes to maximise the performance, (production, sales, cost, safety, enviro, community) and overall profitability of a business.

Director
Don is an asset management and infrastructure professional, who has been responsible for leading the design, construction, maintenance and optimisation of site-wide fixed and mobile mining and processing, power-gen, distribution and site service assets, as well as reliability engineering, maintenance planning and systems, and training services.
With over 25 years’ experience in operating environments and capital projects in the gold and bauxite mining and processing, alumina and nickel refining, Don specialises in delivering diverse technical services as well as asset portfolios, and continuous improvement of business systems and processes to maximise the performance, safety and overall profitability of mining and processing operations.
